Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infection Control Nurse (ICN) to support and strengthen infection prevention practices within our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with strong clinical experience and a focused background in infection control, surveillance, and compliance with healthcare safety standards.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, staff protection, and adherence to infection prevention protocols across the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, prevent, and control hospital-acquired infections through effective infection control practices.
- Conduct regular surveillance, audits, and risk assessments related to infection prevention.
- Implement and monitor infection control policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Educate and train healthcare staff on infection prevention protocols, hand hygiene, PPE usage, and isolation practices.
- Investigate infection outbreaks and prepare reports with corrective and preventive action plans.
- Ensure compliance with national and international infection control standards and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, microbiology teams, and hospital administration.
- Maintain accurate documentation and infection control records.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) – Mandatory
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) – Preferred (Must be obtained within 2 years of hire if not already certified)
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- CIC certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) is highly preferred
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting
- 1–2 years of experience in infection control or epidemiology, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility
